Our older 3D printer works like Billy's link. Only prints a plaster/glue mix but places it in a similar "sandbox" that you pull it out of after the print is completed. Kind of a neat idea but the machine is service-intensive and the company I've done the old-time aluminum sand casting like Walt's video.....we did it almost every day when I was a high school metal shop teacher.
LOL! (For other who may not realize, George was in my class back then). Actually, I have a cast piece that I made when I was a freshman in college. It's an ashtray and my family uses it as the "trophy" every year for our summer batting completion. Right now my brother's neighbour has it.Hey Nial, I still have my cast piece for H.S. I think it was a flintlock pistol?(
