Here in the Smokies...

...it's really smoky!

No, that was in CA a couple of years ago; Weaverville, inland from Eureka. There were some pretty big fires (relatively speaking) in MI earlier this year but once the leaves are out fully the fire season is pretty much out on the Mitten. I did work on a fire (a lightning strike start) last spring though so they do happen here.

This year is definitely unusual as there is next to nothing in the lower 48 and Canada rages from coast to coast to coast…generally the opposite is the case…

The air quality index was above 250 Tuesday and Wednesday here. Had a thunderstorm come through yesterday with high winds and it's down to the 40s, still poor I guess. But not hazy.

My old stomping grounds! Highway 299 is a great drive (without the smoke).
What's your job at the fires? I was a volunteer for 35 years with Humboldt Fire District/
Humboldt Bay Fire Department.
It's been really hazy here in Roanoke.Read where it's supposed to be that way all Summer.

Hey Elliot - relevant to the possibility of me actually putting out these fires - spot the error (happens every year) :rolleyes2:

It really is spectacular countryside! For several years now as a subcontractor to the USFS I am a pool pilot on the nearest aircraft in the photo on a rappel contract. At the time LaGrande, OR was our home base. This summer we are based in Trimmer, CA which is east of Fresno and enjoying amazingly clear air…

May the 4th be with you...

Nope. Hint: it is not a shopping error, it is a geography error. :ROFLMAO:
Stand by, we have secret plans to invade Canada and then the sign will be correct
