I don't want to get Basil in trouble with the DMCA for providing a method to circumvent copyright protection. Sad, but that's the legal environment we live in.

Yep. Folks, remember whose website this is. ANY inkling that copyright infringement might be traced here can only cause Basil lots of problems.

The CD contains 3 basic contents: 1) Owner's Manual, 2) Parts Manual and 3) Workshop manual. These are mostly already available for download from the internet. The CD does a nice presentation of the manuals but otherwise, the content is available on the net, if you look. So it's probably the presentation format and encryption that's copyrighted not the scanned manual pages.

Just because stuff is available for download on the internet doesn't mean it's available legally! I know, for instance, that the original Ferrari 308 parts diagrams are all over the place on the internet and everybody assumed they were in the public domain. However, Ferrari has just recently started sending people cease and desist letters for copyright infringement.

While I would wish that the BMIHT would see free dissemination of these old documents as a boon to their mission to preserve the history of these old cars, based on the fact that they went to the trouble to encrypt their content, you have to conclude that they view it as a valuable asset and will likely wish to defend their copyrights.

I don't know if anyone is still looking for a solution to this problem of the CD not being able to load on Vista or Win 7.

The best solution is to load the CD on a Windows XP computer and of course you can see the files there. However, to load the PDF files for other computers for VISTA and WIN 7, use the program that you can download from the link above per Mark Jones posting (just d/l Revision 3). Use the program "acrobat.exe". So do this as follows.

<span style="color: #3366FF">Run the CD on Windows XP computer, then use this downloaded program "acrobat.exe". Make sure the CD program is still running. Select the directory where you want to copy the PDF files to. Select the PDF files. Then the "acrobat.exe" will break the Hexalock coding and copy the PDF files into the hard drive. Then, you can use the PDF files anywhere and on any computer that has the Adobe Acrobat Reader. </span>

This is what I have tried but was a failure. On my Windows Vista and Win 7 computers, I tried the Hexalock Vista Fix from Hexalock website, and it did not work. I tried to use the Windows XP Mode and it did not work. Of course copying the PDF files directly from the CD does not work due to the hexalock coding.

So follow my instructions in blue above and you will be a happy camper, unless you cannot find a XP computer.

Both vista ultimate and Windows 7 have XP mode built into OS.Tried to download XP mode from microsoft but have to have ultimate that is why cd's work on your sytem.

Follow the steps in the readme file that comes with the hex unlock files. You have to run the CD's hexalock before using the "acrobat.exe" file. I now have files that work on any computer.
