Heritage Carpet and padding for 100

OK, in the final stages of putting back together 1955 BN-1 after a 3 year restoration! I purchased Heritage carpet and padding set. Floor pans were replaced so no "snaps" in place. The felt padding for the carpet set in very thick 1/4" thick. I have already installed Dynamat throughout the cockpit. I was woundering what would be the best way to attaching the padding and the carpet?
Should I snap the padding or velcro it or something else?
I do not want to glue the padding or carpet in case it gets wet.(I want to remove it to dry.)
Any suggestions are welcome!

Snaps snaps snaps !!! Check Moss for the correct Carpet snaps.

I've used velcro for the past 30 years on my carpet and form and have been happy with it. Although it's not original, it is completely hidden and easy to install and use. I'm in the process of rebuilding the car for the last time (in my lifetime) and will use velcro when I install the next carpet.
 
Yes, I was thinking about velcro, but I am not sure how well it will stick to the padding. I am worried if I pull the padding out it, the velcro will pull the padding apart!
I was thinking about snapping the padding and velcroing the carpet.
I was hoping someone else has done this with good success or something I have not thought of.
I am looking for any suggestions.
 
You could always sew the velcro strips to the padding and carpet. Match the thread to the carpet color and it should completely disappear from above.
 
glue the padding to the carpet. Then if needed the carpet and padding come out as one unit. That is how I did it on our BN4. I used snaps to hold them in, like they did from the factory.

I also have a Heritage Carpet Set and Interior for my BJ8 interior. I installed the snaps in their locations with spacers for the jute so that the Carpet wouldn't have any dimples. I used a hole saw to make the spacers, pics shown, and cut out the Jute where the snaps are and I did not glue the Jute to the Carpet or to the floor. I did it this way so that if I need to change the clutch or remove the Carpets, etc., everything comes out easy. If Carpet and Jute are wet they will also dry much faster and this decision is from experience of owning my Healey since 1972. Most likely you'll have to trim the Jute anyway because Heritage makes their Carpets and padding a little bit oversized.

My next question is, does anybody have the location for the snaps on a 1955 BN-1? (If so could you please post a picture or PM me.)

I also did like Patrick with spacers and relief holes for the snaps so the carpet would sit flat and not be pulled down at the location of the snaps, or the tension of the padding trying to unsnap things. I used stainless washers for spacers though. The way our carpet is laid down (jute is glued to the bottom side of the carpet), just remove drivers and passengers floor carpet pieces and the trans cover can then be removed (I think the seats would need to be unbolted from the runners first though).

I used the masonite tempured hardboard but any spacer will do such as a non-rusting metal, etc. I did not glue the jute to the carpet because it's much faster to dry them both when they're separated. I also cut out the slots in the rear carpets for the seat tracks so they easily come out if they get wet. I added a few more snaps to the trans carpet than it originally came with to smooth it out for a better fit.

OH Man, you so right that jute will stay wet and stinky for a long time .

I do not know why modern carpets use it unless you are in for concours, WHEW!!!--Keoke
