I used to respond to all those......had a name, address, phone number, SSN, even a credit card number, all written down..........probably screwed their scam up something fierce.

Hmmm....I don't understand this. Why "All sbcglobal.net User Should Reply Now !!!" (caps and three--count 'em--exclamation points, even!!!) if only the one person has this evil, terrible virus?

I'll tell ya...piles of technical education and I STILL don't understand computers! Guess I'll just have to send 'em my account info. Probably should add driver's license no. and Paypal password, just to be safe...

The scary part is there are poor schlubs who fecklessly respond to this drivel.

I've finally gotten my wife to understand that there are crooks out there and whenever you see someone asking for passwords and account numbers delete the message. The least the could have done was include an AT&T Logo into note to make it seem authentic.

The best con I've see is the one where you're asked to search your hard-drive for an obscure-sounding file name that you are told is a stealth virus. Turns out that you WILL find it because it's a Windows operating system file that you NEED. So the the poor victim ends up deleting their own necessary file. Thankfully, as I recall, this is something that Windoz knows how to go get and fix.
