Still have 6" of the white stuff in my yard from the last storm Another 16" due tonight. Long Island is far from tropical this winter! Schools around here never close. They've already cancelled them for tomorrow.

NASTY!!!

I been watchin' that Noreaster. It's coupling with one outta th' west. Best advice?

DUCK!!!

You're gettin all of it. Unless the weatherman is totally wrong, we're on the outskirts of it. 4+ feet to our west, you guys to the east have it piling up, we still had grass showing earlier today.

About 17" snow since midnight here close to Putnam, including lightning and thunder. Still another six hours at least. Then the wind picks up so you're blinded when you go out to shovel it.

You get the end of the driveway cleared out, then the DOT trucks move past and push snow back into your driveway.

We give each other the official "one finger salute" ....

Nothing I can do about it ... so it's time for homemade buttermilk waffles, sausage, coffee milk, and a nice bowl of ambrosia. Thirsty? Try a "saint nicholas" - hot chocolate with some peppermint schnapps.

I have much sympathy. What would be our normal 'seasonal low' temp is due to be as high as we get today. In th' words of now-immortal Jar-Jar: "Dissie NUTSO!"

I now fear what February will be like. Particularly for you guys "up there".

Y'all take care up there. Got some pictures from my sister (Boston) and parents (Smithfield, RI) and it's very deep wintery there.

Was -10f here yesterday, now it's a balmy 9f. We're at about 200% of normal snow pack. Looks like it's a big winter everywhere.

Just heard on the news that Florida is currently the only state without snow on the ground. You're the winner, Doc.

Re: well it wasn't

Hope you Yanks have well-stocked larders up there. Thanks to a strange high pressure ridge, we only got a dusting.

Winter is not over yet, but we dodged a bullet on this one. Thank goodness!

Be safe up there, guys . . .

Re: well it wasn't

Well, it only took two hours to clear the dang driveway. Now we're just getting some light sleet and gusty winds.

A couple views of what I found when the sun came up:

Say, what equipment do you "up north" guys use to remove snow?

we don't "remove snow" we eat it arrr arrr arrr (insert Tim Taylor sounds here)

seriously, we had about 4 in last night - I'm actually at a retreat centre, very pretty. Got to use my new snow tires - very nice!

BTW what is parked next to the Amazon? Suburban?

Re: well it wasn't

We got about 9 inches here in Morris County, New Jersey. Not a big deal expect I have about 200 feet of public sidewalk to clear. With a shovel, it'd kill me. I have 9 HP Sears snowblower with 28" swath, so no big deal.

Removal? My driveway is a bit long. If I can't drive out
I sure ain't shoveling/blowing my way out.

On the way to NY fron NJ on the train I saw this hopeless attempt to escape a parking lot. Kind of hard to see but there were a single set of tracks to the car. shoved out a good car length in front of it only to give up and return the same way he came. Have to give him credit for the effort.
