Hopefully it's just a wrap, but everyting could be undone if you had to.

Is that a series 1 or what ever they call those years?

The answer's in the bottom right-hand corner of the pic.

It is just paint (or a wrap). At least they didn't cut it up and make a real mess.

I'm glad my dinner settled before I saw this mess.

Howdy Folks,

Having owned "4" E-Types; Here`s some info.

In the article it says the VIN# is ("785008"). I can assure you that is "In-Correct" or a Typo. It would have read ("875008") which would have made her the "8th" E-Type in the country. I owned, (About 6yrs ago VIN# (875190)-I hate to think about that) & That was the "190th" E-Type Rdstr built. "Flat Floor, Side Bonnet Locks & Welded in Louvres". The 3 main features to the very early E-Types.

The only thing this paint job did for the car was "De-Value" it. Its pretty hideous looking but as a "Promotional" thing; I guess it "Gets your Attention"!!

I`d bet the folks in the Jaguar Forum would have some comments on this one!!

I`m surprised Basil has`nt chimed in on this one, Yet.

Regards, Russ

Russ,

It looked to me like someone else was guessing that was the VIN number in the comments of that blog posting but question for you on your Jaguar VIN information. VIN's are typically not country-specific. Is Jaguar different and 785xxx was reserved for US cars or are you saying that all 8 of the first ones produced were sent to the US since the comment was that this was one of the first 3 imported into the US and not one of the first 8 produced?

Scott

Hi Scott,

I don`t have my "Orig Jag" books anymore but I`m 99.9% certain that All the E-Types (Very Early Ones) began with the VIN "875___" as mine did. Mine came in Titled "1962" but the Hert. Cert. showed the build date as "1961".

If it were the "3rd" car delivered to the US; I would guess the VIN would have read "785003" and not "785008".

There must be some Guru Jag folks on the Jaguar Forum that can probably confirm the VIN#`s for the Early Jags.

Russ

The sports car police should take his keys away. Let the miller beer commercial. "You sir can not own or drive a Jag" LOL
