Here are some photos...

Trevor,

"Ugly Bug" looks fabulous. Bugsy could only hope to look half as nice. Hey mirror arrived this AM in the middle of my flood. 6" of rain overnight overwhelmed the sump pump and basement carpet is absolutely sopped. A little bit of paint and mirror will be good to go. Thanks again, I'll pop a check in the mail.

Somewhat of a misnomer as there is nothing 'ugly' about that car. Very well done!

Mike

It looks beautiful to me Trevor. I really like the primer, really brings out the lines, especially towards the rear where it curves out a bit, kinda like a womans hips - bear with me, it's an artist observation! I thought of going with a bare metal look on mine (with full moon hubcaps) but everything I read says clear coating won't keep the car from rusting and wouldn't hold up to use.
My little BE is still needing the right side A post and outer skin installed, then the inner&outer sills and the inner footwell also (floors and cross member already installed). Then I get to do it again on the left side (not the A pillar though)and then the trunk floor. Poor baby had major rust damage and some awful Ohio body shop repairs, circa 1963 or so. I had to pull the cowl and dash down to get evrything in it's place but at least it's getting there and seeing your BE is an inspiration! gotta post some pics sometime....

Thanks for the compliments but..

The car is a lot rougher (uglier) in person. It has some temporary patches welded in the floor and various places. When I get around to doing the restoration it will need (at the minimum): new floors, new boot floor, new outer sill, and a whole bunch of metal straightening.

However, I'm not going to do any of that until I'm finished getting the car setup as I want it. I've rushed into finish bodywork before with only partial mockups and it has bitten me many times.

Hehehe, that sounds a lot like mine only nicer!!! (I've had mine in red oxide primer for a few years!)

I thought about a rotary, but I think the Buzzz would drive me nuts.

I'm all about noise and commotion cars, but I could never get used to the sound of the little rx-7's

if I can get my project off of high center and get it running I will post a vid of it running. Should sound less like a sewing machine and more like a nest of angry bees with a nice brap brap at idle.

Don't get me wrong, I think the rotary engines are cool and have a lot of potential, but I just personally find the sound annoying (and finger nails across a chalk board doesn't phase me).

Trevor, I am sorry I won't be able to see your car in MO. It really looks awesome. I know you are a great paint and body man, and you are eager to show it on your car, but for now it just looks f-word-ing cool. The world needs more LBC rat rods.

Lessee.....flat black paint, high powered engine.....hmmm....sounds like the SR-58/9 Blackbug to me!!! No Uglybug in sight!

 Now THAT'S a GREAT name for it: SR 58/9 Blackbug!!! I like it!!
