Post-War Other Herald shift lever

Shifting the old girl is less than precise, to say the least, so on the basis of good local advice I got a new lower shift lever kit. When I checked to see what was involved in the project, I found that ball bushing and springs look good but one spring appears to be in the wrong position. So two questions: Will putting the spring under the circlip fix things, and is it possible to do this without pulling the transmission cover? (that will involve cutting and ripping the glued rugs and insulation, a lousy setup on these cars (IMO)

PS, How do you like my red TR3 frame? Tom

No help from me on the shift lever Tom - but the frame looks great!

Thanks, Andy, that's what I thought but had hoped otherwise. I'll now be looking for a proper carpet kit. Tom
