Post-War Other Herald rear spring

Andy Mace amongst others may be able to answer this. I rebuilt the rear suspension on my '63 Herald. Besides bushings I added a 3/4" spacer block to lower the rear and remove excessive positive camber. I also installed a camber-compensator (Joe Curry). After driving the car to settle the suspension I find that it lists to the drivers side by at least 2". The question is: Is the spring sprung? I can see no way to adjust heighth. Shoulda just put a new spring in when I did the other work. At least it is not a particularly daunting task. Early Spitfire owners may have had a similar dillemma. Any advice much appreciated.

Puzzling to say the least, Mike. How was the "stance" of the car previously? Did you tighten the bushing bolts while the car was still up on stands? Any chance that the spacer could be at fault, or that the camber compensator somehow is binding or restricting one side? Is the spring well lubricated (engine oil, gear oil, or even WD-40)? Did you personally gain 200-300 lbs. over the long winter? :wink: (Sorry, couldn't resist that one; I usually put on a bit over the winter myself.)

Could it be diff mounts? As I recall, the spring bolts to the diff, which then bolts to the frame. If the diff was comming adrift or is mis-aligned, could this cause some listing. Or could a leaf be broken? Been a while since I owned a Herald or Spit.

I would take a real good look for a broken leaf. the added stress caused by the spacer block could have done it in.
 
I had a similar assymetrical sag. I had a leaf added to my rear spring to correct the overall rear sag. I reinstalled it and everything SEEMED OK. Drove it and the spring pivoted on its mounting and broke a mounting ear off the diff, hence the sag. Turned out the spring shop put the spring back together with a bolt that had a larger diameter head on the underside. It felt like it was snugged down, but wasn't fully engaged in the diff. If you have a block in between perhaps the block or spring are squirming left or right if you don't have that head directly engaged in the hole on the diff. Ernie
 
Thanks for the input. First chance I get I'll put it up on stands and check out the components. I'll let you know what I find.
