This month's issues of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car has a really nice supercharged Bugeye on the cover. This is Domenic Valentino's "Airport Racer" Bugeye. (He doesn't pop up here much, but he is over on Sprite Spot a bunch). Nice guy, and he did a really nice job with his car.

Great to see him getting the attention, and always nice to see a Bugeye getting some props!

Thanks Drew. It just helps our cars become more popular.

Very cool! I enjoyed the article! Cool wheels/tires too! LOL! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif (Maybe I should do something like that!) I was curious that you said, the white walls seem to be controversial. I think they are great.

Did you do your wheels that way because of my car? My friend Jon Cumpton stitched the hides for my car. When I told him I was putting whitewalls on it with red wheels, he told me he wouldn't do the seats if I did that. Now he loves tham and could not picture what the car would look like witout them. Plus thaere was some comments on this site about the wheels also.

Actually, I got the idea for the wide whites after seeing a friend of mine's (Paul Hanley) '64 Iris Blue MGB. I always thought that color with white walls was classy and wanted to do the same with my Bugeye and that's my long term plan. Iris Blue with white walls. Unfortunately, my Bugeye is a bit of a basket case, so I thought I would sort it out mechanically first and just paint the body primer grey while I worked on the mechanicals and drive it that way for a bit. I did buy the tires as I needed them anyway, and I decided to paint the wheels red in the interm to kinda have that rat rod feel! When someone showed me a photo of your car later, I was like.. "yeah! That's the idea!!". I think your sprite is great!

Thanks John, My next Healey (100-4 or 100-6) that I do will have whitewalls also. Whitewalls, white painted wire wheels. I have a Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe, it already has whitewalls, I am going to get white painted wire wheels for it. The bike is black and white... that should look very vintage. Plan to paint the car black & white.
