help!

well im driving for a little while and this mainly happens when at higher rpms but the eninge will just act like its in neutral and slowly bring its way to a stop. the gas petal will do nothing. then it will finally die and then the battery doesnt have enough power to start the car. i just found two people that helped me push start it then drove it home with the lowest rpms as i could. i just replaced my alternator because of this problema and the battery is new and was tested to be just fine?? any ideas? and also earlyer when i was driving it the temp was at about 1/3 insted of 1/2 with my cool air intake but then after i push started it it went up to about 2/3??

my battery had a 2 year warenty on it so i went ahead and just replaced it and got a new battery cable and its good for now. another instance where the problem is a bad ground!!
