Help with vertical link assessment

Hello folks, I'm looking for help evaluating the condition of a vertical link. The photos show a 360 degree view of the left hand vertical link of my 59 TR3A. There was a lot of play between it and the trunnion, which is severely worn, especially the first few threads from the top.
This vertical link shows some wear on the bottom threads and has a ridge on the lower portion that has no threads.
Would it be safe to reuse this vertical link with a new trunnion and seal?
Thanks.

Re: Assess this vertical link

Just a guess here from the pictures, but it doesn't look bad to me. I've seen worse, especially with corrosion in the threads which I don't see in yours. I would first get a new trunnion and test fit - you may find it in very reasonable shape since the bronze trunnion has likely taken on most of the wear.

Re: Assess this vertical link

My humble advise is to use a better trunnion and set the vertical as far down into it as it will go freely. If it binds at the extreme, a file can remove some brass from the upper part of the trunnion. It has to work like butter only better.

Re: Assess this vertical link

Thanks very much. There is no corrosion in the threads as I can see. I'll order a new trunnion and check the fit, possibly rework it to get it in as deep as possible.
Now on to the right hand side.....
