Help with signature

I decided to change the picture of my car attached to my signature and deleted the old one (Thanks John Loftus for having posted it) and attempted to substitute an image on Mike Lempert's photopage, but it would not take.

The picture I am attempting to use may be viewed at:

https://www.pbase.com/mdlempert/image/45642672/original

Perhaps it won't work because there is no file extension attached to the image? In any case does anyone have any idea how I can go about accomplishing this change?

If you right-click your mouse over that picture, you will see the complete direct URL to the picture that ends in ".JPG", however, that image is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big for a signature image. What you can do is the following:

1. On that web site, right-click and select "save as" to save the image on your hard drive

2. Use an image program to 1) crop the image and 2) reduce the size of the image. (images in signatures should be relatively small like banners you see at the top of most pages here (468 x 60 pixels for example). (Remember people with slow modems have to load your sig image each time they view one of your posts, so try to keep the size small.

3. Make a post (in any forum) called "test" or something and then use the "File Manager" to upload the image to my server.

4. View your post and view the image - right-click on the image and select "Properties", and copy the URL of the image.

5. Go to My Stuff >> My Profile and add the URL to your signature box using the image tags like this:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">PHP:</div><div class="ubbcode-pre ubbcode-body" style="height: 36px;"><span style="color: #0000BB"></span><span style="color: #007700">[</span><span style="color: #0000BB">img</span><span style="color: #007700">]</span><span style="color: #0000BB">http</span><span style="color: #007700">:</span><span style="color: #FF8000">//www.britishcarforum.com/something...something.jpg[/img] </span><span style="color: #0000BB"></span>
</span>[/QUOTE]

Hope this helps.

Thanks Basil!
