I decided to tackle the seatbacks today and laid everything out before gluing the material to the seat back.

I think I have this laid out correctly, but there appears to be way too much material. MY question is, does the material on the back of the seat wrap around to the front and if it does, does it over or under the mesh material on the front?

Or...do I trim the excess material from the back and glue it right up to the edge of the seatback? I would think that there should be no exposed metal, but not real sure...

Hopefully the attached pic will help...I really appreciate any insight into this...

thanks again Ray - that is most helpful! My seatbacks were in pretty rough shape when I took them apart, so it was difficult to tell what went where...but your pics really help.
