Help shipping some framed artwork

So I framed up one'a my photos for my Sister for Christmas.

I figured she'd drive up from TN, but naturally she flew. So, how does one ship a framed 11x14 print, in a 16x20 frame, without it getting smashed up and me having to drive down with a new frame? My local brand name shipping store was most unhelpful about it, although I may try a different branch of the shipping store.

Any ideers?

If the local pack/ship places are unable or unwilling I would both call and write their headquarters and explain the issue... I bet THAT would get the franchisee's attention. And be sure there's insurance or contract to cover replacement of the item at a stated value.
 
I used car winshield boxes,then cut them down to size.
It works well for car parts like doors,etc.,also.

A frame made up the appropriate size from 1 x 2s with doorskin top and bottom and foam packing works!
 
I brought a 20x35 framed paper cut packed in luggage on an airplane a few years ago. The framing shop recommended using Plexiglas instead of real glass to make sure it came through safely. I boxed it in high strength (three ply) cardboard with foam around the corners. Came through just fine. Still has the Plexiglas on it.
