TR6 Help! melted wire in my TR6

I already know the white wire melted a couple of wires that were touching, so at this point I know I have to at least take a small section of wrap off of the harness. What ohm reading would indicate there is a short - just anything above 0? How did you test each wire?

Trying to figure what that white wire is for that far down the harness??
 
The only thing I could think of was that it has was for an optional cigarette lighter. It is tied into the switch, so I am not really sure what it would have been used for.

That wire color would probably be purple ,kev.
And it wouldn't be down that far in the harness
