Help me ID my Dad's Midget

When I was a kid my Dad had a Midget. I remember riding between the seats on the shelf with he and Mom! lol! It's long gone, but was the start of my interest in British cars. Later when I was 16 I got a '78 Midget and I was hooked!

Here are some old photos of Dad's Midget. It appears to be an early 70's with the Rostyles, side marker lamps and recessed grille. But I'm not sure what year exactly. Is there anything about it that you can use to help ID the year? Yes, that's me beside it (probably 5-7 years old) and my dog Carmen.

The second photo is a collage with a few photos of my '78 when I was 16. (the top left is me headed to the prom!) In the top right is another photo of Dad's Midget.

TIA!

It's either a '70 or a '71. I think those wheels were only available from late '69 until early or mid '71. The '72's were round wheel arch cars, and the '69 didn't have the side marker lamps.

Late 72, 73 I think.
That's a nice looking migdet, sits up right.

Just checked Horlers, RWA added in October 71.

Thanks guys. I remember my Mom used to describe the color as "Parking Lot Line Yellow"! lolol

'70 or '71

is there any website to that tell you how to ID a Midget. I know in the VW community that I use to be part of had books and website telling you how to tell what year it is with out looking at The Vin. I can tell you a Bug or a bus within a Year. it probably helps that i worked for a VW only Part store for awhile too.

Sure the book is called the Orginal Sprite and Midgets

Early Rostyle wheels, square wheel arches, side marker lights...'70-'71

The book Jack is referring to is:

Original Sprite & Midget by Terry Horler
Link to Amazon

It's the Bible of sorts for the Spridget world.

the black grill is the 70 face lift. the round rear wheel arch is august 70.

is it a dynamo or a altintor?
steve

This appears to be a MK III GAN5. The original Rostyle wheels were introduced in Oct 1969 and discontinued in Oct 1971. There were two yellows. Pale Primrose was discontinued June 1970. The darker Bronze Yellow was available throughout 1969,70 and 71

Ray,

I'm pretty sure it wasn't primrose. Probably the Bronze Yellow you mention.

My money is on 70 or 71.

I had a 71 with those rims and recall them being on the 70 models as well.
