HELP! I need 1 GT6 piston! .020 over size flat top. I was hoping I had a bad valve or head gasket but found a damaged pistion. This GT6 engine is in my TR6 (suprise!)and I have a TR6 engine I am rebuilding but I want this engine to last for the summer while I work on the other engine so I don't want to spend anymore than I absolutely have to! The serial number is KD51930 which makes it an earlier GT6. The engine has been rebuilt once and has .020 over size pistons. I know I'm asking a lot but if someone out there has one let me know what you want for it.

I MAY be able to help. See if you can glean a number from the piston either on the crown or inside the skirt. Any and all would help.

Peter C.

17753 IS a TR6 piston, flat top.
19178 is a GT6 piston, and is domed.

I don't have any of the TR6 17753. Sorry

Peter

I was getting the feeling that the PO rebuilt the engine with TR6 pistons. I found a couple of sites that listed the 17753 as a TR6 piston.

Call Dave at TRF and explain your dilemma. He may be able to help you out. Tell him that I suggested that you call.

Make SURE that you talk to Dave......he has access to everything.

Also try Ted Schumacher at TPI Automotive. I'll bet he has one . . .

let us know!

Thanks guys I figured it all out. I have a GTR6 engine. Engine serial number of a GT6(+) MK2, head of a GT6 MK3 (large combustion chamber used with domed pistons), crank and pistons from a TR6. Acutally not a bad combo. Gives much better compression that stock without milling the head. Don't know about the cam. I always thought it was more spunky than a 2liter in a TR6 should have been especially with a half dead cylinder.
