TR2/3/3A HELP, I MAY HAVE MESSED UP ...TR3 REAR END

I just installed a front seal in my 61 TR3 rear diff. and after I removed and replaced the nut and shims, I read that I might have messed up the rear end settings. I just thought all I had to do was remove the old seal and replace it with a new one. After reading some posts on this forum, it sounds like I was suppose to take some measurements etc. Does anyone know if I might have messed up the settings on the rear end or will the rear end be O.K.. I did replace the shims and tightened the castle nut, but I didn't take any measurements before or after. I don't want to burn up the bearings if I overtightened it. Any opinions.

The only critical setting for the r&r is the castelated nut torque. I think it's somewhere 80-120lbs but don't have my spec here so check your workshop manual.

As long as you replaced the shims and tighten the nut to specs you won't have any problem.

I replaced the R&P on one of my TR3's without any special tools.

I just removed all the shims and put them back in the same place...tightened everything and never had a problem with it.

Rear end work has a "mystic" aura about it...but it's pretty simple stuff.

Bentley lists the torque setting for the castellated Pinion nut to be locked up to 85 to 100 Ft. lbs. torque spanner reading.

I can torque down the nut with no problem, considering the body is off the frame at this time. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't mess anything up. If I did, now is the time to fix it, cause I have complete access to the rear end without going underneath the car. I'll just torque it to 90#s and forget about it. Thanks for the information.
