Hey All,
Quick question - I'm getting ready to install a new panel
kit on my BN1 and was wondering on the doors - do you cover
the metal portion of the door that slopes up to the aluminum
trim piece with vinyl ? Right now it is body color but seems
to me on any photos I can refer to that show that area, appears that it does get the interior color vinyl to match the side
panels.

Thanks for your help,
Mike

Hey Andy,
Just looked at your website concerning the restoration of your BJ8. It looks
fantastic and love the blue over white you went with. Looks like you are doing
a very professional job and taking your time. Wish I could take my BN1 down
to the chassis and start over but not quite up to that daunting task anymore.
Good luck with the completion and make sure to post some pics when you are done.
Regards,
Mike

Cheers Mike

Didn't have much choice, the old tin worm had a good meal. Slowly getting there with help from the healey forum and list.

Must update website (just stripped door handles, quarter lights etc for rechroming),and just sorting out a few mates to help me get the engine in. Might try and video it for the web, (hopefully no diasters!)

This might help, not a great picture. From what I can find it looks like some vinyl under the panel to under the Alum trim would be correct....

Hope this helps.
Michael.

Hey Michael,
Helps a lot and I've dug through some old AHCUSA mags and found some good
stuff to help with my question. On your car, very nice BTW, is the red vinyl
below the vinyl covered piece screwed to the door glued directly to the interior
door metal or to light foam or what ? That is one question I have not been'
able to get answered.
Thanks,
Mike

Material glued direct to inside of doorskin, and from memory also to floor of door pocket if that makes sense, cant recall how far up the door skin it goes though, used the offcuts from the three cows that donated their skins to the leather works to do mine with so as to keep the color consistant, same material used for the wire door opener, although the way the door opener wire is shown in the pic is I believe not correct
