A good friend saw a couple of years ago a TR6 with an aluminum shift knob with the OD "button" on the side. Is anyone familiar with this car. He thinks it was Light Blue on Blue
He's interested in the shift knob info

Those are usually Stag knobs with the switch on top.

Also used on later Spitfires.

But the knobs with the switch on the side do exist, I've seen them on big trucks (to control the 2 or 3 speed rear axle).
 
You can also look at later ( post '77 I think) MGB's, the OD cars had the switch in the shifter knob. Not sure about Spitfires, but i seem to recall the OD cars had the switch in the knob as well.
You could look on the Rimmers site to see if they still sell them.....
