TR2/3/3A helmet style battery terminals

I have helmet style battery terminal ends that I am having trouble keeping tight on my TR2. Anybody have a solution other than switching to the clamp type? Those helmet ends have been on the 2 for almost twenty years and the ID of the ends appear to be wearing thinner.

Lou - I had the same problem on my '53 MGTD.

I added a "liner" of thin pressed steel inside the cap, and replaced the old screws. Problem solved.

I've not tried it, but I suspect you could just wrap each battery post with small diameter solder, and tighten the helmets down on top of that. Might need to recheck for tightness after a few starts.

I bought some of those a few years ago for another vehicle. They worked quite well. Cheers, Mike

Wow, I've never seen those. Apparently they're in stock at most stores, too. I may have to pick up a package of them, just to have on hand.
Actually, neither had I until I went searching for something else. I remember from my dim past that my local service station guys had these "X" shaped thin pieces of lead that they used for the same purpose!
