Hello!

Hex were as delivered. The dealers would add the eared knockoffs to spruce them up. I had both and it was easier to change a tire with the eared knockoffs. You have a great starting point with the interior. Besides the front seats its all there. I do notice the original BMC seat belts. I had them in mine after collecting the parts. There is a seat belt support hanger that goes right next to the front seats on the trim panel behind/next to the seat at the rear wheel inner arch to keep the belts reachable and up in the air. What would happen is the would get broken or removed due to non-adjustment.

I really miss the car, lots of memories and I still have the vin# in my brain!

Thanks for the info gentlemen!

Aeron - I like the look of the two-eared knockoffs as well. Have you had experience with the wheels coming off? Were the wires for when you race?

Wedge - When I get dressed this morning I will go look for the seatbelt support hangers and see if they are there. I like the badge bar on the front of your former vehicle. Why the swap from MG to the Triumph? I like the red one, but....

The grill bar is a period Amco accessory. You can still find them if you look hard enough. They're heavy, but effective. I have one on my '67 BGT...

And here is a photo of the belt hangers in question...

The bar is actaully a dealer option AMCO grill bar to protect the front end incase of a parking bump type accident and back when I last owned the car they were cheap. Also original aluminum bonnet/hoods are rare and expensive. I have not seen them for sale anymore. I autocrossed my MG for about 4 years and never had an issue with the ears coming loose!

I switched to TR7/8 due to prices and the comfort of long distance driving, more egonomics, handling, braking and the best for the TR8s; rarity for the price and that Rover V8! I couldn't buy a facotry MGB-GT at the time due to Customs and finding one so I went with the shape of things to come! I have not told my wife but I am secretly thinking about getting another MGB-GT either a 1969 stock or a 1973 or 74 to put a rover V8 into.

The Amco bars can be found used for $40-60 and NOS around $100. New aluminum bonnets are available from Moss and other parts suppliers for around $600. Used bonnets are fairly plentiful as well, usually costing around $100-150, but typically need a bit of work.

Thanks Steve - I may add an Amco bar when the time comes. There is much work to do between now and then.

I have looked and the belt hangers are there.

It looked much better back when those photos were taken. It's been a daily driver for several years since then. Next spring it will receive new paint and interior to hopefully recapture some of its former glory. Still, feel free to take a look in person at any time.

I really like the look of the grill bar (on Steve's GT).
My grill has already been lightly "tapped" in parking incident, but if I fix or replace the grill, I'll add the grill bar.

DCB:
I don't race the MG (I vintage-race a Sprite with bolt on wheels), but I lost a wire wheel on my MGA years ago due to a knockoff unscrewing.
I'm sure it was a fluke, but I wire the knockoffs just in case anyway. In our club, safety wire on race cars with knockoffs is recommended.
