Hi, I'm 17 and aspire to own a TVR. My dad has an M Series with a Ford cologne V6 which we often work on and drive. Unlike most my age, I love classic cars, especially British ones, notably for their handling traits. Well, I just wanted to introduce myself, i'll probably have plenty of questions. Oh, and is anyone selling a TVR that i can afford with the paychecks my part-time job allows? haha.. someday

Welcome (First Name Would be Beneficial). Maybe you could start off with a Midget or Spitfire and work your way up to a TVR by the time you're finishing college.

Join the TVR Car Club North America. Membership is inexpensive and there are ALWAYS cars for sale at affordable prices. My car was $2000 but I had to drive to New Iberia, LA to get it. Oh, and add an engine rebuild, paint & body work, interior.......but hey, it's a $2000 car, right? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif Seriously though depending on the type of car you want they're available in any budget, just check the listings in the TVR Times.

I want a TVR too. I like the way they look, but some of them are dangerous for a fresh driver (or even a well seasoned one). Learn all you can about 'em, and maybe even take a high performance/racing school. Then make an educated buy on the best one you can get!

Welcome,
Glad to have another TVR fan!
My bro has a 2500M that needs some work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I'll call him today and see what he wants to do with it.
He was more interested in saving it from the crusher than taking on a full resto.

thanks for the welcome. my name is kevin, by the way. My dad is a member of the TVRCCNA, though not a very active one haha. Like him, I prefer tinkering and driving to car shows. I've got my eye on a car in the TVR Trader section of the TVR Times.. that 5000$ brown one. I'm really interested in performance driving and plan on beginning to autocross and then do trackdays very soon. I'd love to do some rally driving someday, and I'm planning a trip to Wellsboro PA for the STPR (Susquehanna Trail Pro Rally).. should be fun.

If you're going to autocross a 2500M you should get in touch with Barry Rowe, the TVRCCNA Webmaster. He's the Solo II steward for the Champaign County Sports Car Club and actively competes with his 73 2500M in E-Stock and he's regularly beating Miatas. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Will it move back to NJ next year?

Bruce

Bruce: My understanding is that while this is a trial at Carlisle the move from Round Valley has been in planning for some time. I'm a little too new to the club to speak history, but apparently the number of non-TVRs coming each year has been decreasing and there has been a push to try and expose the marque to a larger crowd. 50 TVRs at a 100 car show means ~50 non-owners see a TVR. 50 TVRs at Carlisle means THOUSANDS see a TVR. As such I would guess that it won't be back to running our own show for a while, but that's really up to Marshall, David, and the others who organize Woodwork. All I know is the club took a BIG hit last year buying awards for lots of non-TVRs that said they were coming (whole clubs and such) and didn't show.

Hayden,

I for one wish we could centralize Woodwork. I cannot make it to PA this year but if it were further south, say KY I probably could. I recognize that most of the TVR's are in the NE but hey those guys need to do a road trip!

BTW, keep up the TVR chatter, maybe Basil will create a TVR page. And Kevin welcome to the world of TVR's

Russ,

If I remember correctly Woodwork 17 was in Indianapolis. From what I understand attendance was pretty low. Whether "those guys" (since I'll be one of them in May) need to make a road trip is academic, most won't. Why not fly in? Kash Biddle flew in from Tulsa last year, and he is again this year I think. Southwest flies into Philadelphia and BWI.

Wow, I just thought about that (after the suggestion)... There should be a TVR page! Even though it's owned by a russian now... Aren't they still made in UK?

Yup, so far nothings changed other than some talk about returning to the US.

Hayden, I'm not saying it makes sense to have the event anywhere but the North East but there are a number of us who live elsewhere that would like to be able to drive to the event. KY is only 6 hours from NJ/PA and only 10 hours from TX, so it at least helps a little. Also, many Motorcycle events like BMW, Moto Guzzi, Ducati rotate their events all over the country, sometimes to extreme locations.

Kash is involved n this Ford Powered thing in Tulsa in June and I will be attending that driving Wedgie, so maybe we'll have to consider that Woodworek West

Russ, I don't disagree with you. But, I know TVR owners here in Indiana that don't go and that's only 12 hours. Ultimately Woodwork is a large expenditure for the club and the more cars that show up, the less money the club loses (or possibly the club makes money). You're just talking to the wrong person as I have absolutely nothing to do with Woodwork except tell Marshall how many shirts and what size to order. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif It will be interesting to see how Kash's show goes in terms of number of TVRs. I'm going to try and go, but probably not with my TVR (that show is also the host of SAOCA Invasion 6 so Dad and I are talking about taking his Ford-powered Alpine).

Cool Hayden, hope to see you there. Anyone else have a TVR in the midwest going to go this event, June 7-11?

Hello Kevin, and thanks for starting this thread and I hope you find your special TVR soon. By the way, the one you mentioned in the TVR Times would be a good starter. It's located only 3 hours from me.
Also, do plan to join us in May for Woodwork/Carlisle as it will be a great experience for you, and any of the rest of you out there.
I'll not use this forum to debate the pros and cons of where to have Woodwork etc, since that was dealt with in the Winter 2005 issue of the TVR Times. Could it eventually move elsewhere??? Well, anything's possible. This new venue for 2006 is an attempt to breathe some fresh blood into the event which had suffered from declining attendance for over 10 years and also to expose far more people to the TVR marque. So I hope as many of you as possible will drive, trailer, fly, or whatever means of transportation works for you and come enjoy the weekend. Last year, we had several people drive well over 1,000 miles to attend, not to mention those from the UK and Germany who attended.
So come on out and enjoy. And Kevin, let me know if you have any TVR related questions that I can help you with at any time. (tvrccna@cox.net).
Marshall
