Just saying hello, I just found the forum. I'm a regular on the MG Enthusiast BBS, but as we all know, you can't have too many resources!!

Welcome to the bunch, Bob. You're right, too many resources are never enough. We have a pretty good spectrum of knowledge here, across the board.

Indeed! There's always room for another BBS! Welcome to our humble forum! By the way, I noticed your profile. I, too, was a career AF officer (engineer). My wife is from Jerome (down the road a piece from you) and my oldest son just graduated UPT and is at Altus learing to fly the KC-135R. so we have a few things in common.

Cheers,

Welcome Bob!

Lots of really nice people here!

I've only been on for a week,..and everyone's been sooo helpful! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've been a regular on the MG Enthusiast's BBS for at least ten years. But now I'm a regular here as well. MG Enthusiast's is a great BBS but I typically only go there for technical issues. For a wider range of topics I come here. This place is about as un-stuffy as it gets. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi and welcome Bob. This is a great forum you will enjoy the company here. Hope to see more of your posts soon. Regards John. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Hello Bob, and welcome from someone who wanted a career in the Airforce - British of course! - but it never quite worked out. Wasn't a bad deal though, I went to work for Aston Martin instead!!

You'll have fun here, don't be afraid to post.

Greetings to you also. A bunch of military types (of all varieties) in my family. My son is presently at Lackland AFB in TX. Daughter was in USN, I was USMC.
I run several boards, have a 77 MGB, 73 Triumph Stag, & a 65 Mustang GT. How is that for a mix! Oh, and also a 83 VW.

Basil,
More in common than you think! I flew the F4 for a good portion of my career, however, I flew the KC-135 for the last 10! Your son will love it...although, the 135 is one of the first to go...fighters can't work without gas...so he'll be away a lot. My wife spent her whole career in the 135, a good portion as an instructor! Did you fly the C-141?
RG,
I always had a great time whenever I flew with the "Brits"....Flew against the UK F4 @ Watisham in 88, they were GREAT hosts!

Welcome Bob, and just how cold is it in Boise now, came through there in Dec 64, after waiting overnight in Superior, Mont as the snow had closed the pass, great little place, was on the way to Fairchild AFB and I just knew it was the coldest place on earth and the just to prove me wrong they sent me to Alaska next, old sargent couldn't understand why I wanted out. Wayne

Bob, you don't by any chance pronounce your last name "Dockerty", do you? A long time ago, in a country far, far away, I knew an F4 driver that did.

No, I wasn't "that" kind of engineer. I was the geek kind of engineer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Haven't been to Wattisham in ages, I think it's changed quite a bit. 2 regiments of the Army Air Corps fly out of there now (Lynx & Gazelles), along with an RAF search and rescue unit (Sea Kings). The police force rent a hanger there too and fly a Eurocopter from the base which is also home to a REME battalion. No more planes unfortunately.
