hello all,

i just joined the forum after finding it during a random search for mg forums. boy does it bring back memories! in my late teens and early twenties in milwaukee i had a 72 midget and a 61 A that i did a driveable restore on...full motor rebuild, rebuilt the sills/rockers, paint, new top etc. i also helped a friend who raced a B down at blackhawk farms. foolishly, i sold the A 6 mos before mg closed it's doors for good. i've missed that car and i think about it everyday and kick myself for selling it! i would love to find one again sitting in someone's barn or back yard, but i think those days are pretty much gone, so i'll just enjoy reading the posts about everyone else's fun for now, and maybe be able to contribute a little. at the time i ran a crankshaft grinder at an auto machine shop, so i know a little in that area. who knows, maybe i'll run into one some day.
 
Oh, they can be found...go to the Spridget Forum & read the thread "Oh, Tony" about how I found my '59 MGA Coupe...& look at the photos I posted in other threads....there's a couple of MGAa's sitting out in that yard right now - for sale!

Welcome to the board from a fellow Wisconsin native. Where abouts in Northcentral WI are you? I'm in Portage and we're waiting for all the winter junk to melt to get the toys back out. If you want to get back to hanging out at Blackhawk Farms thats our home track with the Midget and soon to be Mini racer.

hello how are you! i'm not too far north of you... merrill. i get down around point and whiting every once in a while for work. it's been a long time since i've been down around the track..some 28 yrs! good to know it's still up and running, i'll have to get down there and look around some time. if ever you need a helping hand shoot me a pm.
in my younger years, i hunted down around your neck of the woods in lodi.

When you get down to the Portage area give me a heads up. I'd be happy to have another set of hands to help on the toys. Or to just hang out and talk cars. I've got a good place to hang called D & D Firehouse (we own it). It's right next to the train depot. I'll buy you a couple of beverages.

Where'd you hunt in the Lodi area?

thanks for the welcom. oh, i'm pretty sure i can find one on here.....it's just that after all my "arms and legs" are gone, there's nothin' left to work on it with!! i have to find that one that's buried back in a barn, under the haybales, that no-one know what it is,.... if you get my drift....

i was pretty young, 12-16. the fella we(my dad & i)
hunted with lived on the river and we hunted right across the road from his home, it was pretty hilly there. i don't remember if it was north or south of lodi, though. he was a concrete finisher, as was my dad. his name was louis prucha. he raised beagles for rabbit hunting and was quit a shot with a scatter gun. i can remember him keeping score on how many rabbits he got compared to how many shells he used for the season and it was always like 80 rabits and 81 or 82 shells! always only a couple shells more than rabbits... he didn't miss much. he gave me one of his pups one year as we were getting ready to head back home after deer season, that was a very special dog, my dad passed away before the next season arrived and i never got back up there after that. some day i'd like to drive around down there and see if i can find where it was.

new berlin... spent my early childhood till i was about 6 on the NW.corner of parkmore( about 116th.?) and greenfield ave.( lannonstone house with real steep roof, good sized yard) went to lindfield elem. school,on about 120th.(? or so) and a block north of greenfield ave. lived on 123(+/-), a block south of greenfield for about 2 years when i was about 6-8 yrs.old. then we moved to milwaukee. that's a pretty long time ago, i might not have the street nos. right! grew up in milwaukee, the prospect of raising kids in milwaukee lead me up here in merrill....gotta say, i don't really miss living down there(too fast), a visit with friends now and then is enough!
 
that would be it!!..... my old nieghborhood! by golly, when i lived south of greenfield, i must have been on about 136th., or so, i remember it was about a 5-6 block walk east down greenfield, to school. i remember there was a small shooping center about 3 blocks to the west of me, on what was it?, calhoun? i guess i was about 10 blocks off on memory.....that's what 45 yrs does to a guy! had lots of friends in your nieghborhood. spent my summers in greenfield park fishing in the lagoon and being chased by the swans...we used to tease them till they'd come chasing us. good thing they never caught us... they were some aggressive sons-a-guns!!. brings back lot's of memories!
 
That shopping area/strip mall is still there, it's at Greenfield and Sunnyslope. Stones Pharmacy is still in there, do you remember that?

I misunderstood slightly, Linfield is down Sunnyslope just south of Greenfield. I was thinking of the elementary school on Elm Grove Road, 132nd St.

They just finished remodelling Linfield Elementary last summer, looks really nice now. The north side of Greenfield has been redeveloped, and Greenfield Avenue is now four lanes to cope with the traffic.
 
well, i always said," i've got a good memory, it's just short"!....i've really got the streets mixed up!! i've heard they widened the greenfield. i would imagine it's pretty busy out there now-a-days. when i lived there, some of the nort-south roads were gravel,yet! next time i'm in milwaukee, i'll have to get out there and have a look at my old 'hood. i do remember a drustore being in that mall, it was a " rexal" store at the time,IIRC.

Geez, you guys are bringing back all kinds of good memories.
As Steve knows, I grew in Muskego, a stones throw from New Berlin. Good to see another LBC guy in the northwoods of Wisconsin. I am just north of Eau Claire in a little burg called Albertville - a tavern, restaurant and gas station.

Good to see you here merlinron and you'll find some old iron out there, I found four old Triumphs and hope to get two or three of them back on the road eventually.

I'm glad to hear about all these "cheese heads" on this fine bcf. Though you can't see it by my address, my dad was from Lake Mills and I spent many summers there. Haven't been back since he died back in 92, though my aunt and uncle are still there.
