hello,new member here

Welcome to our humble forum, Steve. I used to own an XJ6 and loved it! In fact, I have had fantasys of owning another one some day! What all does your need? Total restoration or just mechaicals?

Basil

Welcome, you will find a wealth of information available from the members. My first Jag was a 1986 VPD I put 110,000 mi.on it without a single service except the usual fluids and tires. Wish I would have never sold it. Good luck with yours. Rick

There seems to be a common theme with the older Jaguar XJs. They were either troublesome and had problems from day one, or they were faultless and ran like a Swiss watch, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground. My XJ was one of the latter, which was rare for a '76.

Thanks for the welcome. My xj mechanically is great. Only one major problem...rust at the trailing arms and small amout about half-way up
frame rail. I do plan on having the car resprayed
and the interior re-done. I'll handle the interior myself. But the rust problem and paint I'm going to have to farm out.

Do you mean the trailing arms that connect the rear suspension cage to the uderside of the body? Is the rust on the arm or at the body mounting points?
