Hello Everyone,
I've had my 1958 MGA for over 40 years but haven't joined a forum/club prior, so this is a first for me. I saw the back end of the car behind a garage in the late 70s and its lines caught my eye so I stopped to see if it was for sale. It was there to be "fixed" but the owner had ran out of money. I got his information and it turned out he worked for the same large company as I did. After months of subtle prodding when I ran into him occasionally, we did a deal when he ran short of money. The car was a twin-cam 1600 but the guy had taken the engine apart by himself (he was an office worker with zero mechanical experience) and the parts were in boxes and rusted, missing and useless. I put an 1800 CC MGB engine in to replace to original (I had no choice). I worked on the car over the years a bit at a time and eventually restored it to very nice running condition. I gave the car to my eldest son and it fell into disrepair. I took it back and it is presently at a local garage for a tune-up. Mechanically it's in good shape but the body etc. needs a lot of work. As soon as it is running well it goes into my garage to be restored as I did the 1st time around. I'm looking forward to it. It's fun and most enjoyable "retirement" work as all you aficionados know. That's about it. I look forward to communicating with other members. Cheers Dave
