Hello everyone!

Just now getting started on looking for my first restoration project car. This will be the first car I've done, and I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing, but I do have a pretty decent mechanical aptitude. I'll be looking for a triumph, most likely a 1970's spitfire.

I guess my first question would be what to look for (or look out for) when seeking a car (IE what are the hardest to repair areas when rusted, are there certian engines/carbs/transmissions that are more troublesome than others, etc) Also are there any good "British car bibles" out there that I should be studying?

Well, welceom to teh forum! I have a Spitfire among the British cars in my "stable" and find it a very fun little car!

I recently bought my first ever LBC. I wanted a vintage British sports car that would remind me of my favorites growing up, but did not really have a specific model in mind. I contacted a former classmate who I knew dealt with cars, and let him know what I was looking for, and he found Fagin, my TR3B, for me. I may have paid a bit more this way, but I feel I got a good car for the money as well. None of these cars come with a guarantee, but I knew I wanted something without any major rust so that I could enjoy it now, and do improvements over time.

If you can find someone in your area who can advice you, so much the better.
