Hello there. My name is Donnie and am new to the site. The car isnt mine but my girlfriend who I live with has a '72 MGB. It was her fathers who passed away a few years ago due to cancer. The man took amazing care of the car. He even changed the oil and drained the gas when he parked it. She knows nothing about cars or how to drive a stick so there it sat. It had been parked in her garage for about 4 years now and all it took was some tweaking of the carbs and a charge on the battery and it fired right up. My hopes are to teach her how to drive a stick so I can pass the love of the car onto her and her son so the car can bring joy to three generations of the same family. Once I figure out how to post a pic I will have one up.

If that's her car, its a real nice looking MG MIDGET, not an MGB!
 
I saw the midget badging but my girlfriend insisted that it was an MGB. I am new to british cars so I didnt know if a midget wasn't a type of MGB.
 
No, Midget is completely different from an MGB.

That's a nice looking car, I would say all it really needs is a good destination. I think you should find one and drive her there (and back)! But take the scenic route.

If I had that car, or even access to it and didn`t know how to drive a stick shift, you can bet your last dollar i`d be learning somehow or another. Nice Car!

Well I have learned some more about the car. My grlfriends father was a devoted member of the local british car club here in town. I contacted one of his old friends last night.He emailed me back saying the oil leak (which is pretty bad)is the rear main seal and requires the engine to be pulled. It looks like it might be a bit longer till I can get it on the road but I should be able to have it done in time for summer which will still leave plenty of driving time till it gets cold again.

my in-laws live in north vegas, i get over there at least once a year. no better place to own a nice midget, that's for sure. your's look great!... amazing how all that nice weather keeps 'em looking. i had a '72 midget back in my late teens & early 20's. fun little machine, but not much for the cold, where i lived!
