Jay Porter here. I've been a Triumph enthusiast since high school, which seems like a few days ago but in fact is closer to 50 years ago.Back then and thru my years in the service I owned 2 MGB's,Triumph GT6 and a 67 TR4A which was my pride and joy also a 67 Bonniville and 73 Norton 750.Then came the family and away went the sports cars and motorcycles,BUT now they're back.Since just before retirement 2 years ago I started tinkering on Triumph motorcycles again and that led to thinking about the sports cars.So long story short, after buying and selling several bikes and cars I'm now back close to where I started.A 1962 TR4 with 26,000 showing on the odo,A 73 Triumph Bonniville,in the works and a 73 Norton 850 waiting for the new engine to be back in the frame, several other assorted bikes and a Pontiac Solstice which I considered to be my new TR when I bought it.Bare bones 4cyl.standard on a real frame, manual top and no ac.Looking forward to being a part of your Forum. Thanks jay

Welcome to the BCF!

Hi Jay, welcome aboard! You have a nice collection there... My father was on the design team of the original Norton Commando, and he designed the engine and transmission for that 850 you have there!

We have a Farmington here in New Mexico (Four Corners area). Welcome aboard.

Hey Jay,

I'm down in Windham. I think I've seen your TR4 before (in Harrison, ME) . If it's the same car, that's a nice ride!

Thank you Basil, we are planning to head in that direction this spring, flying, our son lives in Prescott Az.
And thank you AN5Sprite,could be the same car we ride in that area occasionally.I've owned this one for 2 years.I was fortunate to find it close to home in Livermore and I had never seen it on the road before that.

Jay,

If the car was ever serviced by John Campbell, then it's probably the same one.
Hacker's Hill overlooking Sebago lake is a nice destination should you ever find yourself out this way.

That sounds like a good ride,I've never been to Hacker's Hill, love the Sebago area tho.I may give Mr. Campbell a call I've been trying to get some history of the car.The previous owner had very little info.and couldn't remember where he bought it. Thanks jay

Hi Steve, Thank you, I would say that your father and team did a fantastic job! The Norton is Scary Fast.

Are you planning on attending the International Norton Owners Club event this summer? It's to be held in North Carolina, I think. My dad has been invited as a guest of honour and will be speaking at the event, as well.

That sounds like it would be very interesting but we have so many plans now for spring and summer I doubt We would be able to fit it in.I'll be looking for the show on the net. tho. Thanks
