I'm a 70 year old survivor of Lucas electrical systems. My first Brit car was a 58 TR-3 that I bought while in the army. My second was an MG-TF that I bought from beneath a tarp at a paint and body shop in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1964. My third was a Sunbeam Tiger that I bought, repaired and sold to help finance the restoration of a 1953 TD that I bought with a friend. We restored it and took a national 1st in Birmingham. The Tr3 was a superb sports car, the Tiger was a horrible handling car with the worst top design I've ever seen. The TD was anemic but fun. The TF is the car I should never have parted with. It was a Cobra beater by the timer I finished with it. Mods included a 375 hp 327 fuelie Vette engine set back 14", mga COUPE FRONT SUSPENSION STEERING AND DISK BRAKES. Healey rear end and sixty spoke wheels, Aluminum radiator, Three speed Chevy tranny with overdrive, louvered hood, and leather hood straps. I had more fun with that car than any car I've ever owned, including a number of Porsches( including a 914-6). last I heard, the engine was sold and found its way into a truck. never was able to locate the body - last location - Tuscaloosa, AL 1970.
