Thank you Basil for the welcome message, as my username indicates I am a Newbie. I'm new to BCF and new to British cars (Triumph in my case). I just retired one year ago and have felt somewhat lost this first year. My new old car has become my passion and mental outlet. My mother was from England and as a tribute to her I chose the British route. I've had 8 years of college. I've studied Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, Calculus, Pharmacology, etc. but I have never felt as ignorant as I have these past two weeks reading my Service Instruction Manual. As a lover of cars my entire life my focus was on driving them and not fixing them. A new endeavor is what I've needed and what I've found. I have a new set of textbooks and it is my hope that the mental stimulation that the books and that BCF provides will continue to motivate me and make me seek out your mechanical knowledge for years to come. On top of all that, I get to drive around in a fun and beautiful car. Enough, I have already learned a great deal from many members before I actually joined the site and I thank you all for that. Cheers!
Donn

Hi Donn, we're glad you found the BCF! You will find we have many very knowledgeable members here who are ready and will to help you out with your TR! Be sure to jump into our Triumph forum as well and maybe post a picture or two.

Donn - Welcome to BCF! You have a TR3B - how 'bout sharing a photo? Lots more TR3A's on the road these days; TR3B is a good niche to be in.

For many years, I've advised friends to use that first year of retirement to explore your interests. "Never just retire *from* something - retire *into* something new!"

Do they still grow fantastic cherries in Door County? (I used to teach near Madison after getting my MA from UW, and spent a lot of time at Airventure in OSH).

Good to have you with us!
Tom M.

Thanks Tom, used to live in Neenah and know EAA well. The cherries in Door County are great as ever, the best are right across the street. Wineries and Craft Beer establishments are now driving the economy in Door County. Go Badgers!

Not as fresh as it looks. Not a lot of fun to drive yet, 6” of play left or right on the steering. No pictures from the back because the right side sags. 20 miles in the last seven year’s without fluid changes, etc. I ordered a rebuilt steering box and rear shock. Need to order a leaf spring and try to figure that out. Plenty to do and learn.

And Road America plates on the daily, love it!! I'm so bummed that I moved away just before those were issued. I grew up a block away from Whitefish Bay... the *other* one, on the north shore of Milwaukee. My wife is from Kiel and of course her family vacationed in Door County (mine vacationed at Road America).

Yes, Road America is one of my favorite places. I did a three day Skip Barber racing school there and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I love to watch races there on TV now, I know the corners well and it makes it much more enjoyable to watch. The RA plates for the TR should be arriving soon!

We ate breakfast in Kiel every time on our way to RA. Some great place I’d recognize in a heartbeat but can’t remember the name.

Plates finally arrived
That's a pretty cool plate (and an even cooler car!). By the way, instead of using "Attach File" to ad a picture, try using the insert image button in the editor menu (It's the icon that looks like a small picture on a mountain). Doing so will add a full-post width image to your post rather than a small thumbnail that has to be clicked on.

Will do, thanks! Take care.

you can also just cut and paste (mostly - I had to resize it)
