Hello from Arkansas

I recently inherited a MG from a close friend. He originally asked if I wanted his MGB to restore. I looked it over and found out it wasn't an MGB, but was a 61 mark 1 midget with a low serial number. The car is in great shape for being stored for 30 years with very little rust - but the final verdict is to be revealed. My son and I are in the beginning process of restoring this car. I am sure I will be asking for lots of help and any offered help or hints will be greatly appreciated. I grew up restoring cars and jeeps and look forward to my son learning about such basic cars and how they work since you need a computer to work on the late models. I am really glad I have found such an active forum on these cars!

WELCOME..yea these old LBC's just require one thing....patience!!!

Howdy There Radride;

A "Long Time Ago"; I used to visit "Rogers, Arkansas" on Bus: The co. name was "Wendt-Sonis"; Then "TRW Carbide" & Now I believe "RTW Carbide": Real nice place to visit but God Forbid you got thirsty & wanted a Mixed Drink! Is it still a "Dry County"?

Anyways; "Welcome" from the Pocono Mtns of PA: Thats NE PA near the Pocono Raceway:

You`ll find a bunch of MG Junkies in this Forum: Have fun & Best Wishes with Your Project:

Welcome to the forum.
I've got one of those '61's too. Glad to answer any and all questions.
You're to be commended for getting your son involved in the project. We need a lot more people to keep perpetuating the hobby.
Jeff

Welcome, what part of Arkansas do you live.

Welcome aboard! I'm an occational poster and I'm just amazed how nice (and knowledgeable) the regulars and everyone else are!

I concur with Jeff about involving your son. I have 14 year old and he just isn't interested at all. We need lots of kids knowing how much fun Little British Cars cars and their people are!

Adam

Welcome - ya got any photos?

Welcome aboard, this is the place to find all the answers, and learn about the subtle things that we pick up along the way. For example, we just had a primer on headlight fluid that really opened my eyes!! As everyone knows, the synthetic is far superior.

Where can I find instructions for posting pictures? They're not pretty, but I guess I'm optimistic about the end results. Guys, my take on the teenagers is they have basically dry labed life up till now. If you put anything on TV, DVD, playstation, or a power point they'll be totally enamored. When you show them a physical object and tell them they can actually fix it with their own hands, they're blown away in disbelief - and wonder why you don't just go out a buy a new one. Well, some things you can't just go out and buy new. They have never had to repair something, so initially they are bored. My son may stay bored, but by slowly working on this project he is beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel. We started out thinking about how we would "pimp" the MG, which got him interested. He now realizes we really need to do minimal upgrades and just restore this car to near original condition. My daughters are actually more curious about the MG than my son - go figure.

Welcome from central AR! If you are close, have you met the local LBC car club members yet? PM me for info on where to get your parts here! We have an amazing local LBC mechanic who is a Moss distributor (No shipping fees--great prices) and there is always someone nearby willing to give advice and work with you. Between the guys on this forum and the Local club...I brought a 77 Midget back from sure death. (OK so the local guys named it Little Satan..but it runs great and looks good so I'm happy)
