Hello and Healey Help

I've just joined the forum. I live in New Jersey and own a 3000 MK1 BT7 which is in running order but certainly not concours condition. I like to work on it but am not an expert.

I recently ran into a problem: I switched on the headlights and was met with a burning smell and smoke from under the dash - I quickly turned off! On inspection I find that one of the wires going into the headlight switch on the dash has burned out. I'm concerned that this goes into the harness. What are my options? Any advice would be much appreciated, many thanks.

There are several harness repalacement houses out there. You might re-ask the technical question in the Healey forum. the healey gang here is one of the best I've found.

more importantly, you have to figure out where the short is.

www.britishwiring.com makes harnesses. Moss carries harnesses, i suspect VB does too.

I'll be replacing the one in the '57 100-6 i've got soon.

Welcome to the Forum - come on over the the Healey Forum and post your question - what do you mean by "burned out" - at the connection to the switch?

Hello and Welcome

Lots of Healey help in the Healey forum. Fellow MK1 BT7 owner.

Cheers

Mark

Thanks I'll head over to the Healey forum. Finding the short is likely going to be a challenge. Thanks, APM

Thanks Longbridge, I'll head over to the Healey Forum. As for burned out, I mean the plastic insulation of the wire is melted. APM
