Hello Basil,
I thought I put in some info on myself but maybe it did not take. I have severe PTSD and depression so my memory is not to good. Wife is stage four cancer. So I have my plate full. Any way enough of that. I have owned 2 spitfires in the past and the one I own now. I call him blueboy. I have attached a pic. It is now in getting some stuff replaced really not needing it but just for my piece of mind. It was a birthday present. I worked at John Deere for 42 years as a SR. designer so when you see those green machine in the field I have a lot of parts on them that I invented. I had a breakdown so it was time for me to go. 4 patents, 3 job awards and 1 AE award. My first spit was a 1965. It was a great little car. No trouble at all. I drove it for over a year then the clutch starting leaking so I just sold it . The I bought a 1978 spit new. Had it 6 weeks. Beautiful car all options including hard top. Guy ran a red light tboned in an intersection and just mangled the car. The left side was push in 6 inches my hip bone pushed the center console over about 6 inches, car spun around twice and the the othe side hit a pole and a fire hydrant Ened up on the sidewalk and then hit a guy that was standing on the sidewalk m my bumper clipped his leg below the knee, he went flying over the back of my car and broke his leg into. Long story short the car would not sit on all four wheels and they would not total it , I got screwed if I may be blunt. The guy beat the ticket due to the cop wrote the ticket wrong. The body shop that worked on the car did a terrible job and finally I had to accept. My agent for insurance was taking kickbacks under the table to give this body shop business , but I could not prove it. It was a mess. I drove it that way for quite a while. Also they did not put any primer under the paint . When it started peeling off. So got rid of it and then got married and then lost my first wife of 20 and my 6 month baby boy and my 2 year to a trailer fire they all died ,hence my issues today it all came back on me. So after that I traded a chevy chevette for a 914 porsche and that car was a blast! All of the cars were girl magnets!!! 10 minutes and I had a chick in the car and away we went. Ah the younger days. Sorry to carry on. I think if I had to pick my best spit right now it would have to be the 65 no trouble at all. Any way if there is a way to paste this into my forum note you have my permission and the picture also. I cannot wait to get it back. I put a new radiator in it and fuel pump but the rest one really needs a hoist and I found this great shop here me and the guys there do it all! They are just fantastic! The paint jobs they do, the work they do is top top notch and very reasonable. In fact it was their moms car! She was is 65 years old and had Austin Healys. She said she used to drag race the muscles cars back in the day and beat them . She was quite the pistol. Anyway I think I have rambled on enough here. Again if you can and if you would you can post this for me. I will give my 78 spit a lot of credit, the guy said he was only doing 10 miles an hour. I had witnesses but me being 19 and the guy being 70 and the judge being over 70 well I did not have a chance. Oh and the mustang is what I bought for my 17 year old son when he graduated from high school. Had to throw that in there. I have already went thru a set of rear tires, ha,,that is what these things are for..it will fly. 2011 with only 19000 miles on it.
Gods blessing to you Basil and to all your family, take care. I will try to get in if I can remember how to do it.
