I ordered a Speedwell Engineering panhard rod for Mimi today.
I'd rather burn rubber on the road than on my tub. :nonono:
Plus..it's purdy and shiny.
Not that anybody will ever see it...
It matches my license plates surrounds and gear shift knob too.
The wife liked that part of my sales pitch.

"Honey, you don't want the fellas to see me in a car that doesn't match...do you ?!?!?!?!"

Hehehehe.

accessorizing is very important :iagree:

It's here. Top shelf stuff. I can't wait to install
the panhard rod. Hope to the next couple of weeks before Mimi
gets a makeover. I'm going to use the same blue but no stripes..
at least for a while.
Then Hap gets the carbs. Then we dyno tune her.
The knob is perfect. Small and great feel to the hand.

Sales pitch to your wife?
Don't ask, don't tell.
Just today the parts man asked if I needed a reciept. "heck no" I told him, "reciepts are evidence" ;o)

As I mentioned on the other forum... I bet the shifter knob feels hot. Maybe a good reminder to keep your hand off the knob and on the wheel.

Hey Russ....Mimi gets the re-spray the end of this month.

Gundy, I believe you’re heeding in the right direction with Mimi, that should feel awfully good to Mimi when its install.

Hey BlueMax,

What are you driving? This is the 1st. time I came across a post from yourself. We`ll all need to get together this spring for a "Spring Fling" around the Countryside.

Regards, Russ

PS: David, "Cool"! Let me know when your going to bring her over in your new trailer.

Mimi hits the lift at 8:00 a.m tomorrow.
I think I have everything I'll need ready.
Center punches,wrenches,drill w/ bits and
a longer bolt(thanks BlueMax). I've decided
to attach the joint with a bolt through the threaded
bung and a nut rather than weld the bung on the support.
I'll take a few pics.
I hope it clears the custom ss tailpipe. (crossed fingers)
Looks like it will but until I stick it up there it's
just a guess.

I've run her pretty hard for about 20-30 miles since the knob went on. No heat to speak of.
Feels fantastic. The small size is just so "right".
Now come August and 90 degrees plus it may be a different story
but maybe not. I'll keep my fingers crossed on that.

Heat don't transfer all that well up a shaft that thin. No sweat!

Howdy David,

Your new shift knob will not get hot from heat transfer from the engine or trans. It will get hot from the "Sun" later in the season.

Where`s your B/E at; Haps? Did you drive or trailer?

Give me a jingle.

Russ

I had a billet knob and I burned my hand on it on a trip from Dayton Ohio to Louisville KY. It may have been a combination sun and long drive at high speed. Whatever the cause, the knob now resides in a box somewhere in my basement. (It was ugly anyway)

It is now installed. Easy job a one  deal.
Having access to TJ Motorsports' lift was a BIG help.
I haven't pushed it hard yet but on the 40+ mile shakedown I could tell it will help a good bit. I love the way it feels on those 50+ mph sweepers.
The clearance for the exhaust is close. Heck the clearance
for the whole dang thing is tight.
I'm pleased with the end results.
7/8 tubular anti-sway bar for the front is next.
:driving:
