HeaterShut Off Valve

I opened Bugsy's Bonnet to check fluids and discovered antifreeze puddled all over the top of the heater shut off valve. I changed this about 5 years ago, <5k miles ago with a valve from the usual places and 2 years ago changed out the rubber washer trying to stop the leak. All to no avail. Any recommendations for a supplier for this pesky part. Perhaps from across the pond?

I need to buy one of these, anyone have a reliable supplier or are they all the same part just sold by different people?

Jim,

I needed one fast so put one together from the hardware store.

I ended up ordering a new valve and base from AH Spares. It looks different from the ones available here from the usual suspects and I hope it is indeed better. $23 and change plus shipping. Last time I ordered a BE Hood Badge from them it came regular air and got here in only a few days for < than I could order it here.

$32.82 with shipping from across the pond when I look at my bank account this evening.

That may not be period correct but it definitely looks like it will work. And work a long time.

Also it's a plumbers solution to a plumbing problem.
Elegant.

Wow, Ordered Heater Valve late Monday afternoon, parts arrived here by AirMail today. Total Shipping and Packing $5.15. Nice Job AH Spares.

Base Plate came with threads covered in paint. Will need to see if I can unscrew and reuse the old one or else get a large tap to chase the threads on the new plate.

Wow, cheap freight---you would pay twice that with E-bay's shipping calculator.

Far as that goes, what has happened to freight charges in general in this country?

Kurt.

Agreed Chad.
Lost my last American made CT plier and when I went to replace it I noticed the laws have apparently been changed so that it is no longer necessary to place the country of origin on manufactured goods.
Looked up CT and found it is owned by APEX tool group out of Maryland and was surprised to learn that virtually every old name brand tool is owned by that company. The list is about 2 inchs deep on the screen and I'll bet none of them are made in this country anymore.

Speaking of heater valves has anyone had experience with this remote controlled heater valve from Moss? It looks like a MGB valve with a choke cable attached. I think it's a bit overpriced, but neat idea.
