Heater water valve question

Heater water valve question: I removed the valve from the head to just clean it up a bit and happened to notice how little the valve opened when turned to the full open position. The image below doesn’t show what I am talking about quite as clearly as I would like but I think you can discern what I am talking about. Is this normal or should I expect to have a larger opening for the coolant to pass through? I would appreciate your thoughts.

Can't say for certain but I would expect it should open considerably more than that.

should open fully[as any tap would] you will have to disassemble it and clean up the threaded shaft
