Heater Valve Question

Concerning the heater valve on the back of the engine: Which way do you turn it to turn the heater on? Also, which way is the water pumped? Does it come out of the valve going to the heater box or does it come out of the box and go into the valve?

I believe that it is counter clockwise so that it comes upwards, the water pumps from the block to the heater box.

So assuming what I think you want to do, turn it clockise (lowest position) and you should be fine.

Mine leaked, so I plumbed it to 'always on' ... hehe! It's still freezing when it's cold out, and it's not noticeably hotter with the top down.

There isn't much to them. Pretty easy to rebuild with an o-ring from your favorite parts store and a bit of gasket material. Maybe 1/16" garlock??? I think that is what I used. Now I can operate mine and it doesn't leak
