Heater Valve died!

The standard valve will as likely leak *externally* as allow by-pass seepage. either R&R the leaky one (repeatedly) or fit an in-line 'modern' control valve.

On -some- LBC's the poxy control valve is directly above the dizzy... THAT makes for some interesting 'chain of events' motoring.

I was told by a couple of participants there that they had repaired theirs. Simple just drill out the rivets press and twist. Should come apart. There is a rubber diaphragm in there that can be made out of a rubber innter-tube.

I think I'll take apart my one that just died and take a look see. This might be possible to do. If the new ones are not so good then this is a good fix.

Oh, if there is a modern one that can be made to work I'm interested in hearing about it (even if it is a Ford). The advantage being that you can go to just about any parts place and pick one up, and be back on the road, instead of having to wait a few days to get one like I'm having to do now.

Link showing a cross section of the valve. Also shows the "modern plumbing replacement" valve (I'm not going to try that).

I'm going to continue to look around the net for more information on a fix or possible replacement for the valve.
