just installed the heater and hoses - that engine bay is filling quickly! was looking at the heater and there is a gap at each narrow end of about 3/4 of an inch that the heater sites above the battery tray - what goes there? I have no recollection of anything being there when it came apart.

thoughts?
 
Prob was nothing there as it was foam stuff and roted quickly. Use a thinish bit of closed cell foam cut to fit. Or a peice of thick rubber if you got it.
 
My '63 didn't have that problem...I installed a Moss gasket & it fit fine.
