heater hoses on a '77 Midget

well, i'm almost ready to try to fire my '77 midget for the first time. Problem is, my PO had added an "auxilliary" radiator, which I have since gotten rid of.

But, in doing so, I can't find a diagram of how the heater hoses were originally configured. Does anyone have any pics, diagrams, or maybe able to draw a diagram for me?

This is for a '77 Midget, cali emissions, with a water choke.

Thanks!!!!!

Best I can give you right now is a description. I can try to get you a picture tomorrow.

There is a hose coming off the thermostat housing that goes into the fitting on the intake manifold. This is what carries the coolant to the water choke and heater. The rear fitting on the intake manifold has a short length of hose going to a tee, and the tee leg goes to the lower fitting of the water choke. The part of the tee that keeps going straight goes to the elbow fitting of the heater valve. The straight fitting of the heater valve goes to a J-shaped hose which goes to (I'm 50% certain) the lower fitting of the heater. The upper fitting of the heater has a length of hose going to the return pipe at the back of the engine. Lastly, the upper fitting of the water choke has a hose connecting to the tee fitting on the return pipe.

Hope this helps. I'll see if I can get a picture that makes more sense. I'm thinking the return line from the heater is the upper fitting, because that's the one I need to pull off to burp air out when I refill the cooling system.

Thanks Dave, I've had my engine out for about 3 months now and couldn't rightfully remember how it went. I wanted to help but was unable too...lol.

Dave, yes, thanks!!!! it makes great sense. I think the only hoses I have out of place are the upper and lower water choke hoses. I thought the upper came from the "t" and the lower went to the return pipe.

Glad that worked for you. I don't know how critical the direction through the water choke is, but that's how mine went.
