While installing a heater in the 60 TR3A I'm currently working on (goo gobs of fun to be had there), I replaced the firewall fittings. I noticed the engine side of the fittings has a nice barb feature, but the cabin side of the fitting is just smooth pipe. Just the thought of a hose coming loose in the cabin gives me the willies, so I removed the paint from the last 1/2" of the fitting and sweat soldered a 1/2" compression ring on. Easy enough to do. The hose slid on nicely and there was enough room for a hose clamp.
