Heater conversion

I live in Chicago and have a TR3. I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced the heater unit with a modern unit, such as a Ford,Honda etc. I'd like to drive it into the fall months, but it does get a little cold here in the fall. Considering that I'm upgrading just about everything on this car, I would consider adding a modern unit, if it would work. Has anyone ever done this conversion and if so, what model car did you get it from and how hard was it to install. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I replaced the heater motor and fan in my TR3 with one from a Spitfire. I don't know what year the Spitty was, but the fan is a blower type instead of the old propeller type. I cleaned out and used the original heater. If I remember correctly, the Spitty motor bolted right in, but took about 1/4" more space downward. Works well enough in Wisconsin -- although I'd rather put on another sweater under the leather jacket than install the side curtains.
