The Originality Guide says that the brass heater tap, its base and it's knob were all painted gloss black. Anybody got thoughts on that?
 
When I bought my Mk III in '73, it was unpainted and probably original. Of course, that's a different model. It seems doubtful to me that the tap would ever have been painted.
