Well, y'day I headed to Nashville in my big Dodge truck w/5.9L V8 & towing package....she started running hot in stop & go traffic....added water to overflow tank & made it home without getting too hot..... today I pulled the radiator & took it to be checked - wasn't flowing very well...they've flushed & boiled it twice to get it clean....I bought the truck used with very few miles on it & it seems the PO had added something to stop a small leak where one of the plastic tanks is crimped to the radiator - & it clogged everything up! The radiator was good enough for everything I gave it in the last few years but the combination of 100-degrees, stop & go traffic, & a loaded trailer - well....

So, while radiator is in shop, I decided to change the thermostat & also install a new fan clutch...do you know what you have to do to get to the thermostat on that engine? 4 hours removing & installing EVERYTHING!

Tomorrow morning I'll pick up the radiator & install it, fill fluids & see if I've solved the problem! Just one reason why I never add anything to radiators except anti-freeze & water!

'73 MGB GT - parts car - but it has OD & an original Webastos sunroof (that's gonna need complete overhaul/recovering!)

The 1986 LTD we just got... leaks coolant very slowly from the heater core (known problem on these cars - at least the head gasket is holding up). I've asked permission, and will make a bypass tube very soon. But the car will have no heat ever after that. Replacing the core is more than I want to invest in it - workwise.

Oh.. What do you want in trade for the 73 GT? - hehehehehehe... I'll go 2 cars - a 1993 Eagle Talon DL with 140,000+ miles and a rusty roof and bad CV joints, and a 1986 Ford LTD brougham with 67,000 miles, and nearly perfect inteior, and nearly perfect paint (except the 1 foot area of the rear decklid that has managed to see the sun evereyday). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

And maybe a 1977 MGB with new replacement parts for the stuff that needs replacing!

Trust me, Kenny - the '73's body isn't worth restoring...some interesting parts in it though (read: NLA) new bottom halfs of both rear quarters, for example....& I still haven't unloaded all the boxes of parts that its crammed full of.
