If you are insulating a plastic tunnel, where rust isn't an issue, wouldn't it be best to put the stuff on the outside so that it is reflecting the heat away from the car. If it is applied on the inside it will just be trying to contain the heat in the gap between the tunnel and the insulation material. A bit like closing the curtains to keep the heat out of a house. It is much better to have the blinds on the outside of the windows.
Just a thought from someone in damp, cold Scotland where the insulation would be far better used on the inside of the soft top!
