Healey video

Vern,

HOW did you get that whole choir and orchestra into the paint booth

Great paint job. Are you going to color sand & rub or leave it as is ?

Are you going to color sand & rub or leave as is?
Tim, that's funny. Could it get any better?
I've got only two words to say about that paint job.
Wow and wow.

What color are the wheels? They don't look silver?

Very nice job Vern!

Hi Vern,

What color is it; Black or Dk. Grey or What? I wonder how many Wet Sands with Super Fine paper that took?

Very Nice Indeed.

Regards, Russ

Thanx!!
The color is a Brookland green from a Jaguar, in my paint booth the lights make it look almost black.
One wet sand with 1200 flat the 3m Perfect it II first wool pad, then MC Guire Diamond cut compound on a coarse foam pad then finish with a 3m waffle pad.A 12 hour job after the clear sat for 2 days. The wheels are donor ones used to get it to the shop.

I'll take the gentle jab, 'cause I know that you meant it in the best possible humor....

Full screen on my 19" monitor, the Utube video looked kind of grainy. In looking more closely, it does lood great. Because the car was in the paint booth, I assumed that it had been freshly painted. I don't know any painter who would let a piece of sandpaper or a buffer within 50 feet of his booth. I didn't think about maybe it had been returned to the booth for pictures under the tube lights.

Having now base/clear painted 3 Classic Mustangs and my Healey, I know that when the planets align and you hold your mouth right, good things can and do happen and sometimes paint jobs look fantastic right out of the can and don't need color sanding and polishing.

I submit MY big Healey. Here, 12 years after I base (x2)/clear (x3) painted it, the paint has never been color sanded, buffed, or waxed. Only mitt & dish soap washed.

If you look closely, under my waving arm, you can see the reflection of the car next to me and even the pink sunset on the horizon.

I think that the paint still looks pretty good for it's age and miles driven.

Tim
